Parijs

In a short while my DH and I are leaving for a short stay in Paris (France). We booked a room in a small hotel near the Gare du Nord, where our train will arrive. Of course we'll be doing a lot of sightseeing over there, such as visiting  the Eiffel Tower, Sacré Coeur, Montmartre, Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre museum. Please cross your fingers for fine weather, so that I can get great photos. When we'll get back, I probably got a lot of scrapping to do :)
I'm looking forward to it.
See you in a couple of days!!

minialbum G45 an ABC Primer

A while ago I bought some G45 designpapers (An ABC primer) from a fellow-scrapper. I love these papers, although sometimes it's hard to scrap with them, because of the large images they show. I made this mini-album with school portraits of my oldest daughter, when she attended primary school (back in the 90's). All photos were converted to sepia first to fit the colors of the papers. The album measures 6x6 inch and was made out of chipboard, the pages are made from black cardstock. In between every two pages I hid a tag, where she can write the journalling about the teacher, class mates and the skills she learned in that class. The binding is bij Tim Holtz, I should have adhered it to the back cover because in that way it is much more easy to turn over the pages, but silly me, I didn't. With the next album, I will pay more attention to that part, LOL.
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

At Color Combos Galore inspiration board # 228 is online for this week's cards, mini-albums,  tags and off-the-page creations. As extra inspiration you got to use natural material, like rope, hemp, wood, burlap or canvas. As GDT I created these 2 cards. The first one is a rocking card (my first one ever)! I cut a circle of 14 cm, folded it in half and decorated it with a clockface (Dusty Attic) at which I used some burlap underneath. The bird die is from Marianne Design, colored with disstress ink  Flowers are from my stash. The sentiment was printed on the ribbon. The easelcard (also my very first one) is made for a friend who will be going on vacation shortly. I handcut a suitcase, stamped it and made another small suitcase (QK die) that stands in front of the bigger one. The bigger suitcase closes with a robe, when opened you can read the sentiment inside: bon voyage.
It has been my pleasure to be guestdesigner at CCG for these two challenges. Do hop over to their blog and play along, maybe you will be their next Guestdesigner! Good luck!
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

Reveal GDT bij Color Combos Galore!

Jaaaaa!

Yes! The Reveal is online at Color combos Galore! I won challenge # 223 and am very honoured to be their Guest Designer for the next two weeks! For challenge # 227 we received this inspiration board with such beautiful soft colors, focus this week is on the product mesh, bonus challenge can be drawn from the photo at the board. Here is my creation. I used white cardstock as a base and designpaper with the polkadot  from Making Memories as a bonus challenge. Magic mesh was used as a mask in the upper left corner. I used distress ink on it, then removed it from the cardstock. At the pearl flourishes you see some lace with again a mesh pattern in it, and of course lots of flowers, all from Prima Marketing. The edges on the mat under the photo were distressed by using water, which softens the paper. In this way you can shape, bend and tear the paper, let airdry and the paper will become stiff again. The little bird on the left corner is a metal embellishment, decorated with a tiny bird on the tail, this came from a broken earring. The soft colors in the photo (showing my youngest daughter) are also a match to the colors of the inspiration board. Just hop over to CCG, see what the DT has created and join in in all the fun!
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

52 walks of scrap

Thema's waren Nest (week 13), Good things come to those who wait (week 14), Yellow (week 15) en All creatures great and small (week 16).
tag 13 Nest
tag 14 Good things...

tag 15 Yellow
tag 16 All creatures...

At Scrapbook Challenges I had a little catching up to do, because I hadn't scrapped the photos yet starting from week 13. This weekend I made tags # 13-14-15-16 so now I'm back on track. Prompts given were: Nest (#13), Good things come to those who wait (#14), Yellow (#15) and All creatures great and small (#16).  The "Nest" photo shows a floating nest with a little coot on top, "Good things.." gave me a little headache, until I stumbled upon this storch, announcing the birth of a baby boy. "Yellow" was the easiest one, because these viola's grow just outside my front door. For "All creatures..." I wanted to do a macro shot of some bug, but there just were nog bugs in sight. So this butterfly and dragonfly have to do for this week's prompt.
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

Dessinpapier is van My Mind's Eye.
Bedankt voor het kijken en tot gauw!

At Scrapdelight Count Up Challenge # 13 is up. This time we have to use 13 photos on a single layout of which at least one has to show a "bad luck moment", use exactly 13 homemade flowers and focus on the journalling about bad luck.
I used photos of my hot air balloon trip of last year and made this simple layout. Because all 13 photos are in plain sight and very colorful, I decided to let them tell the story and add only the 13 flowers. I made these out of coffee filters and colored them with distress ink. Tutorial can be found here. I emphasized the "bad luck photo" by using 2 chipboard circles. Designpapers are from My Mind's Eye.
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

overgrootouders

Het dessinpapier is opnieuw van The Scrapcake (Once upon a time).

I received my assignment for the GDT at CCG. Although I have quite a large stack of cardstock, none of the colors suited me well, which wass a great reason to go out and buy some more! I could withhold myself from buying other stuff, so I came home with only the papers I needed (I'm so proud of myself!). And yesterday my package of Graphic45 papers arrived, it contained 3 blocs of G45, cardstock, glimermist, beautiful lace, stamps and other embellishments. This package was sold at a "fleamarket" at one of the fora I attend, so I was pleased to get it. I also bought some ribbon and lace at the local "Fabric fair" that is held once a year in my town.
In the meantime I created another layout for my family heritage album. These are my great grandparents on my father's side. Deisgnpapers are from The Scrapcake (Once upon a time). The mini hearts were made by melting UTEE in my new melting pot (Ranger), flowers are from my stash (Prima and Petaloo). I did some fuzzy cutting and used distress ink, pearls, lace and swirls, all from my stash.
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

Wheehoo: Guestdesigner at Color Combos Galore!!

Hello Sylvia!!

Thank you for your submission to CCG223, "The Incredible Kid" Challenge. Such a gorgeous layout and your colors were perfect!!! I have gone through the submissions and made my decision. A HUGE congrats to you, as the winner for this challenge. You have received a prize package and is also our Guest Designer for April 15 and 22 - LAYOUTS and CARDS week. Please accept this invitation by responding to me right away!

I will send you the Color Combo and Inspiration Photo as well as your Designer's Challenge assignment as soon as I receive your response. The prize package contents were bought and selected by me to coordinate with both challenges you would be designing for. Since you are overseas, this package could take up to three weeks to reach you, which would not of been in time to create for the challenges. I didn't think about that when I posted the challenges. But I will be sending it as soon as I get your full address.
Congratulations again, thank you so much for playing, and hope to hear from you real soon!

Another short messeage to let you know that my layout of my great grandmother has been chosen as one of the three Gallery Gems of this week at Scrapbook Challenges! Needless to say that I'm honoured (for the 6th time already)!

90 jaar

Fijn Paasweekend allemaal!

mijn broer Hans

My dad celebrated his 90th (!) birthday yesterday with a dinner for the whole family at a local restaurant. My dad is quite an active man, still very bright, his only problem is his hearing. Using the telephone becomes a problem, because he cannot hear what we are saying. Therefore we bought him a laptop, so that he can go online and use the internet and e-mail us to stay in contact. I also gave him the mini photo album that I made for him, with photos of his parents and siblings. He enjoyed it very much!
Have a great Easter weekend everyone!

12 tags of 2012 #3

Fijn Paasweekend allemaal!!

Tim Holtz made his April tag with beautiful colors distress ink and a great die. The inks are not the problem (I got them all), but my die is one from Marianne Design. I used some of his techniques, but couldn't copy them all, because of a lack in my stash (I do not own all his products, sadly enough). Anyway, this my own version of Tim's tag #3. Branch and leaves were colored with distress inks, as wel as the bird, and the branch and leaves were embossed. I used a script stamp for the background and a frame around the bird. The sentiment is Tim's :)
Thanks for watching, see you soon. Have a Happy Easter everyone!!

overgrootmoeder

I used designpapers Once upon a time from The Scrapcake to create this layout. The woman in the photo is my great grandmother (on my father's side), taken about 1935. It is not the origional, I printed it in black&white, distressed and folded it a bit and used distress ink vintage photo to give it a more ancient feel. For the layout I used sketch # 68 at Sketchabilities. The clockface is a lasercut by Dusty Attic, also colored with distress ink. Further I used lace and flowers from my stash. I am entering this layout also at the color challenge at Millies.
Thanks for watching, see you soon!

52 walks of scrap

I completed my two tags for the 52 walks of scrap challenge at Scrapbook Challenges for week 11 and 12. Tag # 11 Lost shows a pair of shoes hanging in a tree, next to an appartment building. In my innocence I like to believe that someone tossed out his shoes from above, that caught tangled up in the tree (but in the back of my mind I know that high hanging shoes have a complete other meaning). I tied some twine on the tag, representing shoe laces.
For week's 12 prompt Awakening I came across this lazy ginger cat, that was enjoying the sunshine. It just woke up when I passed by. I did some tearing on the paper and created a shining sun with some warm colors orange and yellow. On the back of all tags I put my journalling.
Thanks for watching, see you soon!
