Eierdoosje met theelichtjes

Allereest een hartelijk welkom aan Carla van Funnie Scrap Ladies, wat leuk dat jullie ook uit Alphen a/d Rijn komen en gezellig dat je mijn blog komt volgen!
Op het Vintage Udfordringsblog staat deze week een hele leuke challenge: een vintage project met lichtjes. In plaats van de "traditionele" kaart met theelichtjes wilde ik weer eens wat anders maken en heb daarom een eierdoosje (voor 6 stuks) bescrapt. Het dessinpapier is van Prima Marketing, de randjes zijn gedistresst en aangezet met distress inkt Victorian Velvet en voorzien van een kantje. Het sleutelgat is van Dusty Attic en heb ik een gouden glans gegeven, net zoals de (houten) sleutel en ik heb er een mooi boeket bloemen (Wild Orchids) bovenop gezet. Aan de binnenkant zie je in het deksel het bijbehorende kerstkaartje, van hetzelfde papier met een geponst randje (randpons van MS) en een kantje, een bescrapt doosje lucifers en 5 waxinelichtjes. Deze zijn gedecoreerd met een kerststempeltje wat je ook terug ziet als tekst op het kaartje. Hiervoor stempel je op tissue papier (gewoon een papieren zakdoekje). Het gestempelde laagje plaats je op het waxinelichtje en smelt je erin met de heattool. Een heel simpele techniek, supersnel en met een leuk resultaat. De buitenkant van de waxinelichtjes kreeg ook een kantrandje mee.

First of all I'd like to welcome Carla of Funnie Scrap Ladies, thank you for becoming a follower! It's always great to meet someone from my hometown!
At the Vintage Udfordringsblog challenge # 49 is all about lights, combined with of course a vintage project. Instead of the 'usual' card with tealights, I wanted to make something different, so I altered this egg carton. I covered the outside with designpapers of Prima Marketing, distressed the edges, inked them with Victorian Velvet distress ink and added some lace along the edges. The keyhole is by Dusty Attic and was given a bit of shimmer with goldish ink, just as the key. Some matching flowers on top (Wild Orchids) complete the outside. On the inside you see a little card, made with the same designpapers and a stamped sentiment "Merry Christmas", on the edge I used a MS border punch. I included a small matchbox, also with the same designpapers and 5 tealights. These have the same sentiment as on the card. For this simple technique you stamp your sentiment on tissue paper, remove all extra layers and centre the stamped one on your tealight. Use your heat embossing tool to melt the sentiment into the wax of the tealights. The tealight cups were decorated as well with lace.

album met satestokjes + tutorial

Sommigen van jullie herinneren zich misschien nog wel, dat ik een paar jaar geleden een mini-album heb gemaakt, waarvan de pagina's waren gebonden met behulp van satéstokjes. Dat zag er zó uit:

Als je wilt weten hoe ik dat gedaan heb, kijk dan even naar deze tutorial.
Benodigdheden: satéstokjes, cardstock, lineaal, schaar, potlood.

foto 1: Je kunt verschillende soorten stokjes gebruiken, lange (van shaslicks bijvoorbeeld voor een wat groter album), gewone satéstokjes, tandenstokers (voor een ieni-mini-album) of stokjes met een knop aan het uiteinde. Ook andere vormen van stokjes behoren tot de mogelijkheden bijv. metalen pinnen, maar ook touw, lint of raffia kun je gebruiken, want het principe van rijgen blijft hetzelfde.

foto 2: bepaal hoe groot (of klein) je je album wilt maken. Mijn uiteindelijke albumpje in het voorbeeld is 10,5 x 14 cm  Voor deze maat heb ik stroken cardstock van 21 x 14 cm gesneden en ril deze op de helft (in het voorbeel dus op 10,5 cm) . Vouw de stroken dubbel.

foto 3: ril een vouwlijn op ca. 0,5 cm vanaf de gevouwen lijn (afhankelijk van de dikte van het stokje wat er doorheen moet)

foto 4: markeer elke 2 cm op deze vouwlijn, zodat je een oneven aantal tabjes krijgt (in het voorbeeld dus 7 stuks)

foto 5: knip een klein hoekje uit je dubbele bladzijde bij elke markering, zodat je 7 tabs van ongeveer 2 cm krijgt. Vouw de tabjes om en om, dus tab 1-3-5-7 naar je toe, tab 2-4-6 van je af.

foto 6: leg 2 gevouwen bladzijden op elkaar en rijg je satéstokje er als volgt doorheen: tab 1 achterste blz., tab 2 voorste blz, tab 3 achterste blz., tab 4 voorste blz., tab 5 achterste, tab 6 voorste, tab 7 achterste. Elke volgende bladzijde wordt aan de voorkant toegevoegd en rijg je op exact dezelfde manier. Je kunt zoveel bladzijden toevoegen als je zelf wilt.

foto 7: voor een mooie afwerking rijg je aan de laatste en eerste bladzijde een stokje door de nog niet gebruikte tabs.
Je kunt je album decoreren zoals jij het zelf wilt.

A few years ago I made a Japanese mini-album with a spine made of skewers, shown at the top photo. Here is the mini tutorial:

photo 1: you can use any type of skewers you want, long ones (for a rather large album), the normal ones that I used in this tutorial, even toothpicks or fancy ones with a knob. In fact you can even use rope, ribbon or twine, because the way it is put together is similar to the one using the skewers.
photo 2: decide on the measurements of your album. Mine is 10,5 x 14 cm. Cut your cardstock in pieces of 21 x 14 cm, scor at 10,5 cm and fold each one.
photo 3: scor at approx. 0,5 cm at the foldline (depending on the thickness of the skewer)
photo 4: mark every 2 cm at this scorline (make sure you end up with an uneven number of tabs)
photo 5: cut away a small triangle at each marker and fold tab # 1-3-5-7 towards you and # 2-4-6 away from you
photo 6: place 2 pages on top of each other and start running the skewer through the tabs as follows:
use tab 1 from the rear page, tab 2 from the front page, tab 3 rear, tab 4 front, tab 5 rear, tab 6 front, tab 7 rear. Every new page is added at the front, so that running the skewer through works the same way every time. You can add as much pages as you need.
photo 7: for a nice finish you run a skewer through the tabs that you didn't use (at the front and the back).
Now you can start decorating your album to your own choice.

pleated flower tutorial

Ik heb wat zitten spelen met schilderstape, (distress) inkt en achtergrondstempels om zelf bloemetjes te maken en ben wel tevreden met het resultaat. Zijn jullie klaar voor een kleine tutorial?

 foto 1: Benodigdheden: afscheurbaar schilderstape (te koop in de bouwmarkt), distress inkt, Stazon, achtergrondstempels, restje cardstock, cirkelpons, craftsheet en een brad en eventueel glimmermist voor de afwerking.

 foto 2: scheur wat repen tape en plak ze op je crafsheet (lengte maakt niet uit). Dan kun je ervoor kiezen om ze blanco te laten of ze een kleurtje te geven met je distress inkt (gewoon je pad erover heen halen)

foto 3: bestempel de al dan niet gekleurde stroken met Stazon en een achtergrondstempel (tekst, muzieknoten of iets van jouw keuze)

foto 4: pons cirkels uit het restje cardstock. Hoe groter de cirkel, hoe groter je bloem wordt.

foto 5: plak de stroken tape al vouwend langs de buitenste rand van de cirkel. Is je eerste strook op, ga dan verder met de volgende en werk al vouwend steeds verder naar binnen, tot de hele cirkel bedekt is.

I'm playing around with some tape, distress ink and  background stamps to create my own pleated flowers. Here's the tutorial.
pic. 1: supplies: crafsheet, tape, distress ink, stazon, background stamps, circle punch, scrap cardstock, brad, glimmermist and/or stickels
pic 2: tear some stripes of the tape and put them on your crafsheet (length doesn't matter)
pic 3: leave them as they are, or color them with your distress ink pad (just whipe over them)
pic 4: stamp your background stamps with Stazon on the tape (script, musicnotes or any stamp of your choice)
pic 5: punch out some circles, the larger the circle, the larger flower you'll get
pic 6: start pleating your tape on the outside of the circle, working your way in.
pic 7: When the first stripe is used, take the next one. Work your way all through to the centre of the circle.
pic 8: decorate with glimmermist and/or stickels
pic 9: final result with a brad in the heart of the flower.

mannenkaart

Voor de juni uitdaging bij the (Paper) Trail Makers staat een mannenkaart op het programma. Nou ben ik niet echt een kaartenmaakster, maar deze vond ik wel erg leuk om te doen. De tutorial vond ik hier. De kaart is op 2 manieren te openen, ofwel maak je de middelste brad los, of je schuift het overhemd eruit (eigenlijk het makkelijkst). Het is een verjaardagskaart voor m'n vader geworden, die weliswaar in april al jarig was, maar het nog niet gevierd heeft. Het zakhorloge is een zilverkleurige bedel, die ik met embossingpoeder een gouden kleurtje heb gegeven, net als de buttonbrads.

A masculine card is the June challenge at the (Paper) Trail Makers blog. I'm always having trouble to make cards, but this one was fun. The tutorial can be found here. This jacket card can be opened in two ways, either you open the button brad, or you just slide the shirt out, which is the easiest way to do. This card was made for my father, who still has to celebrate his 89th (!) birthday. The pocketwatch is a silver charm, that I embossed in gold, just as the button brads.

kaart

Ik heb een kaart gemaakt, die al een tijdje op mijn to-do lijstje stond. Bijkomend voordeel deze week is, dat het de nieuwe uitdaging is bij OVA (napkin folded card). Tegelijkertijd doet hij ook mee aan de uitdagingen bij Double Dutch Challenge # 68 (maak een vintage card) en bij uitdaging nr. 4 van The (Paper) Trail Makers (gebruik minimaal 1 doily), 3 vliegen in één klap, zogezegd.
De tutorial voor de kaart vind je hier. Ik heb dubbelzijdig papier van Prima Marketing gebruikt. Voor de binnenkant heb ik een nestability uitgestanst (2x hetzelfde formaat) en die verspringend weer op elkaar geplakt, zodat je een soort van doily randje krijgt. Het midden hiervan is ook weer met een nestie uitgestanst en dat deel heb ik weer gebruikt op de band van de sluiting. Hierop een stempeltje van Prima wat bewerkt is met Crackle Accents (Ranger). Alle randjes zijn geïnkt met Vintage Photo en Victorian Velvet (Ranger). De stempel aan de binnenkant is van Hero Arts. Randpons van Martha Stewart, pareltjes met de perlen pen en de bloem is ook van Prima, kant uit eigen voorraad.

I wanted to make this type of card for a while now and at OVA's this is the new challenge for May (napkin folded card). You can find the tutorial here.
I used Prima Marketing designpapers and inked all edges and foldlines with distress ink (Vintage Photo and Victorian Velvet). For the inside I cut 2 pink circles with my Nestabilities (twice the same size) that I lined up unevenly to create a doily-like outline. The centre of these circles was also cut with a Nestability, this scalloped circle was set aside to form the decoration on the closure band. The sentiment is a clear stamp from Hero Arts. The image on the outside decoration is a clear stamp from Prima Marketing on which I poured Crackle Accents (Ranger) to get the worn look. Further I used some lace, Martha Stewart border around-the-page punch, a doily, pearl pen and some flowers (Prima and Wild Orchids).
I will enter 3 challenges with this card:
- OVA (napkin folded card)
- DDC # 68 (vintage card)
- The (Paper) Trail Makers Challenge blog (doily)

kaarsen bestempelen

Als je nog snel een kerstkadootje voor iemand moet maken, is dit een hele makkelijke: kaarsen bestempelen. Het is heel eenvoudig en supersnel en werkt als volgt: stempel een passende (Kerst-)afbeelding op een papieren zakdoekje (met Stazon). Pel het zakdoekje af (meestal bestaan ze uit meerdere laagjes) tot je alleen het bovenste laagje overhoudt waar de stempelafdruk op staat. Neem een kaars (ik gebruik zgn. rustiek kaarsen vanwege het iets ruwere oppervlak) en leg het tissuevelletje met stempelafdruk erop. Zorg dat het goed strak ligt, zonder vouwen. Neem je heattool en verwarm het tissue velletje, binnen een paar seconden zie je dat de kaars iets smelt, de tissue smelt als het ware in de kaars. Werk de kaars verder af met een lief lintje aan de onderkant en je hebt een uniek en snel kadootje. Ik weet trouwens niet of je de kaars nog kunt aansteken, dat heb ik niet uitgeprobeerd, maar het staat wel leuk als decoratie. (Op de foto zie je dat ik er geen lintje omheen gedaan heb, dat komt omdat de kaarsen bij mij in de woonkamer staan en één van onze katten verzot is op lintjes, die bijt hij altijd door :) )

A quick and easy way to make X-mas gift: a stamped candle. This is how it works: Stamp your X-mas image on a tissue and remove all layers, until only the upper one (where the image is) is left. Place the tissue with image on your candle, make sure it is tight around the candle (no folds in the tissue). Grab your heattool and heat the tissue. Within seconds you'll see the candle melt and the tissue will melt into the candle. Finish it with a nice ribbon and tada: there is your unique X-mas gift! For safety reasons I wouldn't light the candle, it's for decoration only! (As you can see in the pic, I didn't tie a ribbon around the candle, because they are in my livingroom and one of my cats tends to eat all ribbons LOL).

tutorial kerstkaart met theelichtjes

Hier is de tutorial voor een kerstkaart met 3 kleine theelichtjes. Je hebt nodig:
1 A4 vel cardstock (230 gram) van 21 x 29,5 cm
scorepal of lineaal met vouwbeen
mesje, potlood, schaar, dubbelzijdig tape, dessinpapier, stukje lint, 3 theelichtjes.

Stap 1: (foto 1)
Ril vouwlijnen op 2,5 - 4,5 - 16,5 en 18,5 cm
en op 2,5 - 4,5 - 8,5 en 10,5 cm

stap 2: (foto 2)
snij de hoeken eraf en teken een venster in het vlak waar de theelichtjes komen.

stap 3: (foto 3)
Snij de hoekjes schuin weg en snij of knip de tabjes in tot de rillijn en snij of knip het venster eruit. Bewaar het uitgesneden venster !!

stap 4: (foto 4)
vouw alle rillijnen en plak het doosje voor de theelichtjes in elkaar

stap 5: (foto 5)
Doe de theelichtjes in het doosje en sluit het aan de bovenkant.

stap 6: (foto 6)
decoreer het doosje met strookjes dessinpapier, die je op maat hebt gesneden. Voor de bovenkant gebruik je het bewaarde uitgesneden venster om het af te kunnen tekenen. Beplak alle zichtbare zijden van het doosje.

stap 7: (foto 7)
Snij een stuk dessinpapier op maat van het cardstock of kleiner. Ik maak hem ca. 3 cm korter, zodat ik het overgebleven randje cardstock nog kan bewerken met de randpons. Dit deel vouw ik dan terug over de kaart. Knoop het lintje om het doosje en werk af met een mooi label, kerststempel of plaatje.

Tutorial for a X-mas card with 3 tealights.
Supplies: Cardstock (230 grams) of 21 x 29,5 cm, scorepal, ruler, scissors, tape, designpaper, ribbon, 3 tealights.

step 1 (photo1):
score at 2,5 - 4,5 - 16,5 - 18,5 cm  and at 2,5 - 4,5 - 8,5- 10,5 cm

step 2 (photo 2):
cut away the parts you don't use (see pic) and draw a window, where the tealights will show

step 3 (photo 3):
trim the corners (see pic) and cut the tabs till the next score line, cut out the window, do not trow it away yet.

step 4 (photo 4):
fold all scorelines and assemble the box. Leave the top open.

step 5 (photo 5):
put the tealights in the box and close the top.

step 6 (photo 6):
decorate all sides and front of the box. You will need the window that you did not trow away, to trace it on the designpaper.

step 7 (photo 7):
Cut a piece of designpapier, approx. 3 cm smaller than the cardstock. In this way I can use my borderpunch for the border on the right. Fold it back and glue it. Tie the ribbon around the box, and decorate with a X-mas label, stamp of nice picture.

Hieronder vind je de tutorial hoe bloemetjes te maken van koffiefilters:
1. Benodigdheden: koffiefilters (bruin of wit) Nestability stans peony (de 4 kleinste maten), stansmachine, craftsheet, minimister met water, brads, heattool, distress inkt, Glimmer Mist, Glossy accents.

2. Stans de 4 maten bloemetjes uit 1 koffiefilter, je krijgt dan 8 blaadjes (koffiefilters zijn dubbel)

3. Stapel de blaadjes op elkaar van groot naar klein en prik een bradje (ongeveer) in het midden

4. Spuit de bloemetjes nat met de minimister (niet echt kleddernat maar wel meer dan vochtig)

5. Frommel de blaadjes vanuit het midden op (te beginnen bij de kleinste) tot een bloemknop. Het ziet er dan zo uit:

6. Droog de bloemknop met de heattool, begin bij de achterkant waar de pootjes van de brad uitsteken. Is dit enigszins droog, draai de bloem dan om, vouw de blaadjes wat uit elkaar en begin te drogen met het hart van de bloem.

7. Smeer 2 (of meer) kleuren distress inkt direct vanuit het pad op je craftsheet en spuit er water over.

8. Dep je uitgevouwen bloemetjes in de inkt, zodat het de kleuren goed kan opnemen en vergeet ook de achterkant niet. Frommel het geheel weer op tot een bloemknop.

9. Droog met de heattool, begin weer aan de onderkant, draai de bloem om en droog het hart en de overige
blaadjes, terwijl je kneedt en vouwt, frommelt en fröbelt tot de vorm van de bloem naar je zin is.

10. Werk de bloem af met Glimmer Mist voor extra glans en een paar druppels Glossy Accents voor het effect van een dauwdruppel.

11. Deze kleuren heb ik gebruikt voor de verschillende bloemen. Zie je wat voor kleurverschil de witte en bruine koffiefilters opleveren (zie de kleuren links boven)

How to make flowers out of coffee filters?
1. Supplies: coffee filters (brown or white), Nestability die Peony, Cuttlebug, minimister and water, craftsheet, distress inks, brads, heattool, Glimmer mist (Tattered Angels), Glossy Accents
2. Cut the 4 smallest shapes of the Peony die from 1 coffee filter and seperate the layers. You will have 8   petals in 4 sizes.
3. Layer all 8 petals and put a brad in the centre.
4. Spray the flower with the minimister (the flower should be fairly wet, not moist)
5. Shape, fold and bend the petals, starting from the inner side out to create a rosebud
6. Flip the bud over and dry with your heattool, starting from the bottom where the legs of the brad show. Flip it over again and dry the heart of the flower, while shaping the flower.
7. Put some ink (2 or more colors of your choice) on your crafsheet and spray it with the minimister
8. Let your flower absorbe the colors and shape again by folding and bending to create a rosebud
9. Use your heattool once more to dry the flower, starting again at the bottom. Then flip it over to dry the   heart and petals. Continue to shape until you are satisfied.
10. Finish it off with some Glimmer Mist and apply some drops of Glossy Accents to fake dewdrops
11. These are the colors I used for my flowers. Can you tell the difference between the brown or white coffee filters?
